We agree with you that no area of the body is more frustrating than the stomach. As we probably go through normal physical changes, such as childbirth, or weight fluctuations and the ageing process, excess skin and fat find a way to accumulate around our midsection.
Unfortunately, as you might have found out, exercise and diet can prove to be unsuccessful at reclaiming the curvaceous waist of your youth. We understand your frustration.
Pregnancy or fluctuations in weight often lead to issues like excess abdominal skin, fat, stretch marks, and weakened abdominal muscles. An abdominoplasty can effectively address these concerns, resulting in a sculpted and restored abdomen.

I am thrilled to share my journey with Delta Clinic as I prepare for my Fleur-de-Lis (FDL) tummy tuck surgery with Dr. Alfie. From the very beginning, this experience has exceeded my expectations, and I couldn’t be more confident in my choice of clinic, doctor, and the team supporting me through this exciting time. First and foremost, I have to commend the clinic’s coordinator, Alex. From the initial contact, she has been more than just a liaison between the clinic and myself—she has become a true friend and a pillar of support. Alex has been in constant communication with me, whether through phone calls, texts, or emails, ensuring I stay informed and reassured every step of the way. Whenever I had questions or concerns, she was quick to respond, and always with a warmth and friendliness that made me feel completely at ease. Her attention to detail and genuine care for my wellbeing is evident in how she checks in with me regularly, even just to see how I’m doing personally, not just in relation to the surgery. Alex truly goes above and beyond her role, and I highly recommend her as your coordinator at Delta Clinic. Her professionalism, kindness, and commitment to her patients are second to none. My experience with Dr. Alfie has been equally outstanding. I had my initial consultation via video call, and from the moment we connected, I could tell I was in good hands. Dr. Alfie was incredibly friendly, polite, and patient, taking the time to listen to my goals and concerns regarding the FDL tummy tuck. His calm and reassuring demeanor made me feel comfortable and confident in moving forward. My second consultation was in-person, and the experience only solidified my positive impression of Dr. Alfie and the clinic staff. The moment I walked into the clinic, I was met with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff members were incredibly friendly and accommodating, putting both myself and my partner at ease. During my face-to-face consultation with Dr. Alfie, he once again proved to be a wonderful professional. He was gentle and thorough while assessing the areas where I’ll be having my tummy tuck, and he took the time to answer every single one of my questions—literally, I had a notebook full of them! Dr. Alfie never rushed me or made me feel like any question was too small or insignificant. His patience and attention to detail are truly commendable. It’s clear that he cares deeply about his patients and ensuring they feel confident and fully informed before surgery. As my surgery date approaches, my excitement continues to build, and I can’t stop talking about it with Alex, who shares in my enthusiasm. She has helped me prepare not only logistically but emotionally, always offering reassurance and kindness. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I feel fully supported by both Alex and Dr. Alfie. For anyone considering a tummy tuck or any other procedure, I wholeheartedly recommend Delta Clinic. They go above and beyond to ensure you feel cared for and informed throughout the entire process. The level of professionalism and warmth from both the medical staff and the coordinators makes you feel like you’re in the best possible hands. I’m confident that my surgery will be a success thanks to the incredible team at Delta Clinic, and I look forward to continuing this journey with them. A huge thank you to Alex, Dr. Alfie, and the entire team at Delta Clinic—you’ve made this process not only smooth but enjoyable, and I’m so excited for what’s to come! I had a tummy tuck with hernia and muscle repair 12 weeks ago which I was incredibly nervous about for many reasons as well as wanting to have it done for a long time. I wanted to wait a year so I could give a full and honest review. Dr. Alfie was incredible, complete and full care was taken by him and his staff throughout the process. As a T1D there are more risks than most with the procedure (implants and lift) however everything went exceedingly well, I was taken well care of throughout the procedure and recovered fast. For my check up dr. Alfie was extremely happy with the results as I was healing well with no issues and was already looking how we had hoped. I. Myself, am extremely happy with the results, I feel more confident in my body had minimal scaring (you can really barely see them) and I just couldn’t have asked for a better surgeon. It is also known as abdominoplasty or Brazilian tummy tuck.

A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is one of the most popular procedure done under general anaesthesia or at least TIVA which is a mild form of general anaesthesia that allows for faster recovery and less nausea and vomiting after surgery.
The surgery involves an incision at the bikini line and just above the patients supra pubic hair. All surgeons aim to put their incision at a hidden skin crease. The skin and fat tissue are lifted off the abdominal wall muscles up to the upper abdomen. The belly button is transposed, muscles tightened with permanent or semi-permanent sutures and excess tissues excised.
We are proud that we own the latest technology to help patients achieve their hour-glass figures, we use the latest technologies such as powered assisted liposuction and Vaser technology to contour the waist, hips, and flanks area.
Once wounds are closed and drains inserted, dressings and garments are applied. Lastly, patients move to the recovery area for a few hours to recover before they move to their room before full discharge.
We’ll Help You Choose the Tummy Tuck Procedure that Suits You
There are several types of tummy tuck procedures, each designed to address different concerns and cater to individual needs. The main types of tummy tucks include:
This is the most common type and involves making a horizontal incision above the pubic hairline and around the navel. The surgeon then removes excess skin and fat, tightens the abdominal muscles, and repositions the belly button if necessary.
This procedure is suitable for individuals with limited excess skin and fat below the navel. It involves a smaller incision, and the belly button is usually not repositioned. The focus is on the lower abdominal area.
This type addresses a larger area, including the flanks or love handles. The incision may extend beyond the hips, allowing for more significant contouring of the abdominal and flank regions.
This variation is suitable for individuals with significant excess skin not only horizontally but also vertically. The incision is made in both horizontal and vertical directions, resembling a “T” shape.
This comprehensive procedure targets the entire midsection, including the abdomen, flanks, and lower back. It is commonly performed on individuals who have undergone significant weight loss
This less common procedure involves making an incision in the upper abdomen, usually just below the breasts, to address excess skin in the upper abdominal area.

What to Anticipate in an Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) Consultation?
In your in-person consultation, the surgeon will inquire about various aspects, ranging from your current health status to specific details about the desired physical outcomes. Be ready to share information about your current medications, allergies, and any past or ongoing medical treatments. The consultation for abdominoplasty involves a comprehensive evaluation of your abdominal muscles, fat, and skin in relation to your overall body size and shape. Your plastic surgeon will focus on discussing your surgery goals, emphasising achieving maximum improvement in a natural-looking manner.
Following the assessment, your best options for abdominoplasty will be determined based on your history and examination. Confidential photographs of your trunk and abdomen will be taken for surgical planning and post-surgery result assessment, with strict confidentiality maintained between your plastic surgeon and our staff.
The consultation will also cover the recovery process and potential complications. You are encouraged to ask any questions at any point during this discussion.
Subsequent consultations will delve into your surgical choices, reiterating potential issues and complications specific to your case.
Consultation Cost
Delta Clinics is pleased to offer you a complimentary initial video consultation with one of our specialists. For the in-person consultation, to ensure the efficient use of the surgeon’s time and to avoid no-shows, a £100 deposit is required when scheduling your consultation. This amount will be credited toward the cost of your surgery should you choose to proceed with booking. If you need to cancel your appointment, kindly notify our clinic at least 24 hours in advance.
For those seeking a second consultation, we are pleased to offer a complimentary consultation.
Making The Most Of Your Consultation
One of the most common inquiries we receive at Delta Clinics is in regards to cost. We often state that cost is often dependent on your specific procedure, its size, and a range of other factors; however, to help with budgeting and affordability, the below indicators will give you an idea of the costs associated with your considered procedure.
The total cost of the procedure is comprised of surgical fee, anaesthetist fee, theatre and hospital stay, assistant’s fee, implants/devices and potential additional fees to consider.
Includes the surgeon's fee as well as initial post-operative follow-up appointments. In the unlikely event of an emergency situation or complications the additional services and supplies required are included in the surgical fee as well.
Anesthetists' services and expenses are in addition to the surgical fee.
Includes theatre time, staff, hospital stay, equipments such as implants and garments. The charge for your stay will depend on how many nights you are required to stay (some procedures only require you to remain at the hospital for the day).
Tummy Tuck and Liposuction
It is common for patients to get confused between these two surgeries. Studies shows that a third of patients attending abdominal liposuction procedures needed a tummy tuck. The key word here is the amount of excess redundant skin. If the patient has tight skin with no laxity or redundancy with good tone and no muscle weakness or separation, then a liposuction procedure may be enough.
However, if the patient suffers from excess skin and fat with muscle separation, possibly due to a previous pregnancy, then they may need tummy tuck with muscle repair.
It is very common to combine a tummy tuck with liposuction and muscle repair at the same time. This combination improves the final cosmetic and functional outcomes as it helps narrow the waistline, strengthen the abdominal muscles, trim more skin, and cut down the costs and recovery time. Most of our patients opt to have them all done during the surgery.
About the Surgery
A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty are moderate to major procedures done under general anaesthesia or at least TIVA which is a mild form of general anaesthesia.
In many cases, liposuction is also performed to contour the waist, hips, and flanks area. Once wounds are closed and drains inserted, dressings and garments are applied. Lastly, patients move to the recovery area for a few hours to recover before they move to their room before full discharge.
It is normal to feel some discomfort and mild pain after any surgical procedure. Tummy tuck patients used to report an average pain score of 7 out of 10 in the first two nights after surgery. Thanks to the introduction of nerve blockers, this score has dropped to 4.5 out of 10 after a tummy tuck.
At Delta Clinics and partner hospitals, we don’t send our patients home before they have mobilised, eaten and drank and been to the toilet with some assistance. Most of our patients report tolerable pain after surgery.
A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is classified as a moderate to major surgery. It takes 2-3 hours on average. Patients need 3-5 days to be able to mobilise freely with confidence. If muscle repair was done at the same time, then patients would be encouraged to have longer period of rest to allow the muscles repair to heal and prevent any suture rupture.
About Loose Skin and Muscle
Excess skin is a normal product of our physiological evolution. With aging, skin becomes looser and weaker due to the loss in collagen and elastin fibres within. Healthy diet and regular exercises help slow down the process unless other factors such as weight gain and weight loss, pregnancy, and dietary issues take place. Tummy tuck surgery helps remove all this weak, excess skin successfully.
Muscle weakness, also known as diastasis or divarication of recti or muscle separation, happens due to an increased gap between the recti muscles at the anterior part of the abdomen. This could be because of muscle weakness or stretch due to pregnancy or fat inside the abdomen.
Separation of abdominal muscles, also known as diastasis or divarication of recti, occurs due to weakness in the muscle itself or increased intra-abdominal pressure due to internal visceral obesity or lumps or pregnancy.
The most common cause of abdominal muscle separation in women is pregnancy as the muscles stretch to accommodate the growing baby inside their mother’s womb. Unfortunately, some mothers do not restore their muscle strength after delivery, and they could be left with some gap between the muscles. This gap increases every time they become pregnant. Hence, doctors encourage mothers to train and exercise once they recovered from delivering their babies to improve the chances of their muscles gaining their strength and position back.
When you consider tummy tuck surgery, your surgeon will examine your muscle status as part of the standard examination of the abdomen. Therefore, they should be able to tell you immediately if you have any muscle separation or divarication.
Aftercare
Immediately after a tummy tuck surgery, patients are advised to mobilise and wear elastic stockings on their legs to prevent blood clots. Dressings should be left intact for few days after the surgery to minimise the risk of infection. If there are any drains, they will be removed within the first 24 to 48 hours after surgery. A change of dressings should be done between 7 and 10 days after surgery and garments are typically worn for 6 weeks after a tummy tuck.
After a tummy tuck, patients are encouraged to wear elastic stockings and mobilise from day 1 to prevent DVT, also known as blood clots, and fluid collection. They should mind any drains while mobilising.
In the following days, patients can walk around, do minimal homework, and allow themselves enough time and space to avoid any trauma. Patients can go out one week after a tummy tuck. Driving and exercises should be deferred for 3 to 4 weeks until you feel confident enough.
Complete the form below and we will get back to you shortly to schedule an appointment.
